Your Facebook Page, answered.

The person who messaged your Page is the same person who messaged you on WhatsApp.

Facebook Messenger for business uses Meta's Messenger Platform, which lets a company send and receive messages on behalf of a Facebook Page. Otobiz connects the Page you administer, routes its messages into the shared inbox, drafts replies grounded in your own business information, and holds anything sensitive for a person to approve before it sends.

What it does on Facebook Messenger.

Every one of these runs on your own account, with your own information behind the answers.

Page messages in one queue

Every message to your Page arrives in the same inbox as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram. The customer is one contact record, not one per platform, so the person answering sees the whole history.

  • One thread per person across every connected channel
  • Images, video, audio, and documents both ways
  • Delivery and read receipts recorded on each message
  • Typing indicators and seen markers sent back to the customer

Drafts written from your own content

The AI answers from your knowledge base, your website, and the contact's history, and shows which sources it used. Nothing is invented: when there is no grounding, the draft says so and the case goes to a person.

  • Answers from uploaded files, crawled pages, and Q&A pairs
  • Order history attached to order questions
  • Sources shown on every draft before anyone sends it

Buttons, carousels, and quiet sends

Messenger supports more than plain text. Otobiz sends quick replies, link buttons, and card carousels, and can mark a message as a silent push so a late-evening reply does not buzz someone's phone.

  • Quick replies for branching questions
  • A link button that opens a page you control
  • Card carousels of up to ten items
  • Silent delivery for messages that do not need a notification

Follow-ups with consent screening

Follow-up sends resolve an audience from your segments, screen every recipient for consent and suppression, pace the send, and report per recipient. Contacts outside the reply window are excluded with the reason shown.

  • Audiences from the shared segment builder
  • Consent, suppression, and frequency caps applied per recipient
  • Per-recipient delivery reporting after the send

Comment automation on Page posts

A comment on a Page post can be matched against your rules, answered in public, and continued as a private message to the commenter, which is how a question under an ad becomes a conversation.

  • Comments matched on exact text, contains, or a checked pattern
  • Public reply and private follow-up from one rule
  • Comment history kept against the contact

Lead form submissions as contacts

When someone submits a Facebook lead form, the submission becomes a contact with the phone, email, and name mapped onto the record, and can start a follow-up sequence straight away instead of sitting in a CSV.

  • Lead fields mapped onto the contact record
  • Submission recorded and audited
  • Follow-up triggered on capture

Utility templates outside the windowsoon

Meta allows Pages to send reviewed utility templates for things like an order update outside the normal reply window. Otobiz supports creating, listing, and sending them, subject to Meta granting the permission.

  • Create and manage Page-scoped utility templates
  • Send a reviewed utility message outside the reply window
  • Requires Meta approval of the utility messaging permission
Limits

What it will not do.

Most of these are the platform's rules, not ours. They decide what you can send, and when.

The 24 hour reply window

Meta allows a business reply for 24 hours after the customer's last message. Outside it, a standard message is blocked before it reaches Meta and the reason is recorded. The customer has to write again, or you need a reviewed utility template.

There is almost no way back into a closed window

Meta retired most of the tags that once allowed a send outside the window. What remains is narrow and needs Meta's review, so plan on the customer writing first.

Paid re-engagement needs Meta's permissions

Messenger marketing messages require advanced ad permissions and a connected ad account. Otobiz supports them, and they stay switched off until Meta grants those permissions.

No captions on media

Messenger has no caption field on a file, so a caption is sent as a follow-up message right after the attachment. The customer sees two bubbles, not one.

Comments and lead forms need extra permissions

Reading Page comments and retrieving lead form submissions require permissions beyond messaging. Until Meta grants them, those events do not reach Otobiz at all.

What it takes to connect

You sign in to Facebook, pick the Page from a list of Pages you administer, and the connection is bound to your workspace. Otobiz subscribes to messages, postbacks, delivery and read receipts, opt-ins, policy notices, and referrals.

What you bring

  • A Facebook Page you administer
  • A Facebook account with admin rights on that Page
  • Messaging enabled on the Page
  • A workspace owner to start the connection, since channel connects are owner-only

Common questions

Which Facebook permissions does the connection use?

Page messaging, the list of Pages you administer, Page metadata, and business management. Comment and lead permissions are separate and are not requested by the messaging connection.

Can one workspace connect several Pages?

You pick one Page per connection. Running several Pages is a matter of connecting each one, and a workspace owner controls which are live.

What is the reply window on Messenger?

24 hours from the customer's last message. Inside it you can reply freely. Outside it, only a reviewed utility message is allowed, and Otobiz blocks anything else before it reaches Meta.

Can we send a promotional blast on Messenger?

No. Meta retired most re-engagement tags, and paid marketing messages need advanced permissions and an ad account. Follow-ups inside the window work normally.

Do documents work on Messenger?

Yes. Unlike Instagram, Messenger carries file attachments, so invoices and PDFs can go out on this channel.

Does the customer see a typing indicator?

Yes. Otobiz can mark a message as seen and show typing while a reply is being written, so the customer knows someone is there.

Is the Messenger contact the same person as the WhatsApp contact?

If they share an identifier such as an email or phone number, yes: the record merges. Meta gives each Page its own scoped id for a user, so identity is matched on what you actually know about them.

What happens when Meta revokes the Page token?

The connection is marked as needing reauthorization at the moment a send fails, and only that connection is affected. Other channels keep working.

Can we auto-reply to comments on our Page posts?

Yes. A comment rule opens a private message to the commenter instead of answering in public. Meta permits only the private reply.

Does disconnecting delete our conversation history?

No. Disconnecting stops Otobiz receiving messages and deletes the stored login. The conversations stay in your workspace until you delete them or delete the workspace.
