WhatsApp platform

Phone number ID

A phone number ID is the identifier Meta assigns to a WhatsApp number registered on the Business Platform, used in place of the number itself when sending messages.

Also calledWhatsApp phone number ID

It matters during migration: the phone number stays the same to your customers, but the ID changes when the number moves between accounts. Anything that stored the ID has to be remapped. It is one of the small technical details that decides how painful a platform change is.
