Return to origin

Return to origin, usually abbreviated RTO, is a shipped order that comes back to the seller undelivered, typically because the customer refused it or could not be reached.

Also calledRTO

It costs the outbound shipping, the return shipping, and the handling, with no revenue against any of it. Rates are highest on cash on delivery orders. The practical countermeasures are confirming the order and the address before dispatch, and moving customers toward prepayment, both of which happen in a conversation.

Worth knowing alongside it.

Conversational commerce
