Monthly active contacts (MAC)

Monthly active contacts, usually shortened to MAC, is a billing model that charges according to how many unique contacts a business messaged or heard from during a billing period.

Several platforms in this category use some version of it, and the details differ enough to matter: whether an inbound-only contact counts, whether the count resets monthly, and what happens when you exceed it. It is separate from what Meta charges per message. Compare the two parts separately or the comparison will be meaningless.
