Segment
A segment is a defined group of contacts described by rules over their attributes and behaviour, rather than a fixed list of names.
Because it is a rule, membership updates as customers change, and the audience is resolved at send time. Useful conditions combine profile facts, order behaviour, engagement recency, and things learned in conversation. A segment that cannot be nested with and, or, and not tends to force people back into spreadsheets.
Worth knowing alongside it.
- Broadcast
- A broadcast is a single message sent to many contacts at once, delivered as an individual conversation to each recipient rather than as a group chat.
- Lifecycle stage
- A lifecycle stage is a label describing where a contact currently sits in their relationship with a business, such as lead, active customer, or lapsed.
- Drip sequence
- A drip sequence is a series of messages sent to a contact over time, triggered by an event and usually stopping as soon as the contact replies.
