Audit log
An audit log is a durable record of every consequential action in a system, including who did it, when, and what exactly was affected.

For messaging it should cover every send, every approval, and every settings change. The useful question is whether it can be tampered with: a log the product itself can edit proves less than one nobody can change after the fact. A log that is also checked for tampering makes an alteration detectable.
